HIGH PERFORMANCE LED UV CURING SYSTEMS
This technology is used to cure inks, coatings, silicones and adhesives with UV light, offering significant potential for the printing and coating industry. Since the turn of the millennium, UV curing has not only been performed using arc lamps – LED modules have also been deployed for this purpose. IST METZ provides a range of LED UV curing systems for a variety of different requirements.
In addition to conventional UV systems, the IST METZ product range also includes a selection of LED UV curing systems for a number of industrial solutions. What makes IST METZ stand out is the delivery and integration of complete systems that are ready for operation.
LED reactive chemicals are required in order to use LED technology. These LED inks, coatings and adhesives can be cured in a fraction of a second, but must always be tailored to the substrate in question. The compact design of the LED modules used makes it possible for them to be installed in a variety of machines. Additional preparations may be required depending on the machine. Once the technical requirements have been met, the LEDs offer a range of advantages compared with classic UV lamp technology. UV LED technology boasts a number of core properties, such as that it is environmentally friendly, energy saving and ready for immediate use. The LED modules also transmit only a small amount of heat to the substrate, enabling high quality processing even for heat sensitive substrates. The compact LED modules feature a particularly long service life and can also be controlled in zones, depending on where light is required on the substrate.
LEDcure
LED technology for sheet fed printing
With the newly developed LEDcure for sheet fed printing, the well established system technology has been further optimized in terms of performance and energy usage. This enables maximum speeds to be achieved for sheet fed presses. The specially developed optical applications guarantee optimum efficiency for the working distances that are typical in sheet fed printing and for any changes in distance that are required for particular procedures. Depending on the application, this makes it possible to save significant amounts of time and energy. The LEDcure is available in a variety of series featuring either water cooling or air cooling for all conventional machine types. Besides these technical advantages, the LEDcure also delivers economic benefits: changing between UV lamps and LED technology, even at a later stage, is a trouble free procedure for all systems featuring HOT SWAP functionality.
BLK LEDcure
Universal LED unit for reel fed and industrial applications
The BLK LEDcure has been developed for the highest industrial requirements. The water cooled high power LEDs enable production processes to be performed at low speeds and at up to 500 m/min. As the LED unit is very compact, it is therefore easy to integrate into existing processes. Zone circuits makes it possible to adapt to different working widths. Further adjustments can be made to the process by inertization, cooling rolling and configuring the wave lengths within the 365-405 nm range. The HOT SWAP concept provides additional flexibility.
LED systems for digital printing
IST METZ, together with its subsidiary Integration Technology Ltd., which specializes in digital printing, boasts the largest product range of LED systems in the world. Water cooled or air cooled LED curing systems may be suitable depending on the performance required and the installation space available. Systems featuring optical applications are used for pinning, as they reliably prevent scattered radiation on the inkjet head. LEDs with XT8 technology offer maximum performance for high speed drying. The optimum heat dissipation concept ensures that the LEDs have an extremely long service life.

LED technology for bonding and sealing
Bonding and sealing is mainly based around the use of spotlights or flood lamps. With the SPOTcure and HANDcure, IST METZ delivers solutions featuring outstanding handing, flexibility or performance. The SPOTcure and HANDcure devices are typically used for adhesives in electronics, medicine and pharmaceutical engineering, although they are of course used in a large number of additional applications.
